I am looking forward to all or any comments on this topic!
I noticed a lot the different banks with class action lawsuits for different types of STEALING! I cant believe Not one of the class action people contacted me! Bank of America And Also Navy Federal were really shady during the pandemic .
AL and I have two quick stories. Please provide any input.
Bank of America Incident with ALTON and Me
ALTON and I had to make a car payment during a time when everyone was trying to recover from two years of not working due to the shutdown. We went to the ATM and deposited $800 in cash to ensure there was enough to cover the electronic withdrawal. The machine confirmed the $800 on the screen. But when I pressed "Yes" to confirm the deposit, nothing happened. I tried again, still nothing. Finally, my ATM card came out along with a receipt that didn't show my deposit.
I ran inside the bank, but the teller said Bank of America had nothing to do with the ATM machine, as it was owned by a third party. She gave me a number to call. I spoke to four different supervisors and three customer service reps, and they all told me the same thing: "Yes, we see you were at the bank, and we see you deposited $800. Unfortunately, the money didn't go into your account, and there's nothing we can do."
I replied, "Wait, WHAT? You know I was there, you see I deposited $800, but it's not in my account, and you don't know where it is?" They confirmed they could see the deposit but couldn't track where the money went.
A few days later, our account was overdrawn, and we were charged two separate overdraft fees.
Bank of America and Unauthorized Transactions
We've had three, maybe four incidents where third parties accessed our account without authorization and took odd amounts of money, possibly to avoid detection. Despite Bank of America's promise that we wouldn't be held responsible for unauthorized transactions, they sided with the other party each time.
Even after proving we didn't know, authorize, or even be in the same state as the person they gave our money to, they denied our claims. I spoke to their fraud department and supervisors, who acknowledged receiving my evidence of fraudulent transactions made in Virginia. Yet, they still denied my claim within a week, while giving the fraudsters 120 days to respond to our request.
