rental showings

I understand the importance of one's home and the desire to handle all aspects of its maintenance and upkeep yourself sometimes to avoid the cost of hiring a professional service. However, I would like to caution you against this practice. There have been numerous reports of individuals scheduling appointments to view a house, condominium, or apartment and then robbing, or assaulting the owner, who is usually alone. I myself was terrified when I found myself alone in a two-story house with a man who said he thought I was pretty and asked for a hug. I urge you to exercise caution when showing your own property. Don't go alone. Please have someone with you.  Even if you take your dog. Yes, even your Fur Baby can smell a RAT!

non tippers

**Wow, how times have changed! AL and I come from an era where tips were a sign of appreciation. They gave us the confidence to do better each time, hoping for a larger tip as a sign of progress. Nowadays, receiving a tip is almost unheard of, even from clients of our age group who should know better. What happened?

I can't accept the excuses of "everyone can't afford to tip" or "they didn't mention it, so I didn't tip." It's not about assuming that just because there's a Bentley SUV, a Range Rover, and a classic Jaguar in the garage, you should expect a tip. Or because this is your client's third home, and their daughter and full-time maid both have $5,000 purses, you should expect anything. It's about continuing to do your job the best way you always have, without expecting a tip, even if you've been working for these people twice a month for two years. But shame on non-tippers.**

It's true that tipping used to be a more common way to show appreciation for good service, and it often motivated people to go above and beyond in their work. Nowadays, it seems that tipping isn't as prevalent, even among those who might be expected to tip generously.

Cultural Shift:

Over time, tipping has become a deeply ingrained social norm in the U.S., with expectations for tips in various service industries, including restaurants, hotels, and transportation

Increased Awareness:

There is growing awareness and discussion about the fairness of tipping and its impact on workers' livelihoods. Some states and businesses are experimenting with no-tipping policies and higher base wages

Economic Factors:

The reliance on tips has allowed employers to pay lower base wages, particularly in the restaurant industry. This has led to ongoing debates about fair wages and the role of tipping in the economy

Global Differences:

Tipping practices vary widely around the world. In some countries, tipping is not expected, while in others, it is a significant part of the service industry

The Importance of Quality in Choosing Service Providers

When it comes to hiring a contractor, housekeeper, or landscaper, it's crucial to prioritize quality over cost. While it might be tempting to go for the cheapest option, this approach can often lead to more problems and higher expenses in the long run. Here's why investing in reputable and skilled service providers is essential:

  1. Quality Workmanship: Skilled professionals deliver high-quality work that stands the test of time. Whether it's a home renovation, cleaning service, or landscaping project, you want results that are durable and aesthetically pleasing.

  2. Reliability and Trustworthiness: Reputable service providers are more likely to be reliable and trustworthy. They have a track record of satisfied clients and are committed to maintaining their reputation. This means showing up on time, completing tasks as promised, and respecting your property.

  3. Safety and Compliance: Professional contractors, housekeepers, and landscapers adhere to safety standards and regulations. Cutting corners can lead to unsafe conditions, potential legal issues, and costly repairs down the line.

  4. Long-Term Savings: While hiring a cheaper, less experienced provider might save you money upfront, it can result in poor workmanship that requires frequent repairs or replacements. Investing in quality services can save you money in the long run by reducing the need for constant fixes.

  5. Peace of Mind: Knowing that your home and property are in the hands of skilled professionals provides peace of mind. You can trust that the job will be done right the first time, allowing you to focus on other important aspects of your life.

  6. Enhanced Property Value: Quality work enhances the value of your property. Whether you're planning to sell or simply want to enjoy a well-maintained home, investing in top-notch services can significantly boost your property's appeal and market value.

While it might be tempting to cut costs by hiring the cheapest service providers, the potential risks and long-term expenses far outweigh the initial savings. Prioritize quality, reliability, and professionalism to ensure your home and property are well taken care of.
